Many colonies experience power outages

After inclement weather in Uttarakhand, the State plunged into darkness on Monday midnight. However, department officials claimed that the technical snags were removed for ensuring disruption free round-the-clock power supply to the consumers.

Power supply continued to be disrupted even today following the inclement weather that was witnessed late last night.

Shockingly, several colonies plunged into darkness after witnessing thundershowers. Department officials claimed that linemen immediately carried out repairing lines, but the reality was something different as power cuts were observed for nearly four hours in some colonies.

And the remote areas were among the worst suffers as the power supply resumed in the morning. The supply of power disrupted for three to five hours due to the ongoing maintenance works carried out by the department following the stormy weather that struck across the capital city late last night.

Department officials said that loose connections were tightened and lines were repaired. Among the worst affected localities were MDDA colony, Shastri Nagar, Defence Colony, Badripur, Gorakhpur, Patel Nagar, Kedarpuram, Haridwar road, Subhash road etc.

Testing of lines continued till evening for providing disrupted free electricity. Apart from the power outage, residents also complained of low voltage. However, the supply of potable water was also disrupted in these colonies.

One of the department sources told The Pioneer that loose connections were tightened for ensuring electricity to the residents, especially after the rains. He claimed that the power supply was restored to most of the areas except a few colonies where testing of lines continued till late in the evening.
