Udham Singh Nagar police are now launching massive manhunt to rescue businessman who was allegedly abducted from Sitarganj on May 19 night when he was going back home after shutting down  his cement and construction material shop at Sisauna Bazaar. However, they are yet to identify the miscreants who had reportedly abducted the trader.

However, an abandoned scooty and  a pair of  sandals have been recovered from the abduction spot, two kilometres away from the home of the supposedly abducted trader. The sensational case has left the traders and other residents of the area scared. local businessmen had gone for shutdown on Saturday, demanding rescue of the  shopkeeper from the clutches of the abductors. They had alleged that  crimes were on the rise with the law and order machinery having crumbled in the district.

Udham Singh Nagar senior superintendent of police Sadanand Date said on Sunday that following the case of abduction being lodged, several police teams, including Special Operation Group (SOG), have been formed to rescue the trader as well as to nab the culprits. “The teams have been sent to several places,” he said, adding that  a forensic team and a dog squad had inspected the spot and collected some evidences related to the case.

Sources said that the abducted shopkeeper Ravish Garg has his own house on the SIDCUl Road near Ramleela Maidan in Sitarganj where he resides  along with his parents  and wife.

As he had not returned home on Friday night his worried family members  had tried to contact him. His cell had been found busy and thereafter, it was found not reachable. Alarmed, they had gone to his shop to find it closed. Having failed to locate him, they had approached the local police station following which police had started the search operation. However, aside from recovering a scooty and a pair of sandals from a place two kilometres away from his residence, nothing concrete leading to the identities of the criminals and the place where the abducted trader was supposedly kept has come their way so far. A case under appropriate sections of IPC has been registered against the accused in the Sitarganj police station.
