The police arrested a man impersonating a police sub inspector moving around in the market with a fake pistol. The accused was taking advantage of the lockdown and was patrolling in Jwalapur and other areas. The police constable on duty found his actions suspicious on noticing him. When questioned in the police station, the accused confessed to being an impersonator.
Police circle officer (City) Abhay Singh said that local resident Jaindra Kumar bought khaki dress from the market and was roaming around on a bike with a fake pistol. He was planning to take advantage of the lockdown.
A native of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, Kumar was seen in Jwalapur in the last two days. When the local constable asked him about his posting, Kumar said that he is posted in Dehradun. This raised suspicion after which he was brought to the police station where he confessed his crime during questioning. An FIR has been booked against him under section 419 of the IPC, added Singh.
