Man sent to jail for harassing woman

Tension prevailed for few hours in the lakkhibagh area when a person belonging to a minority community who had allegedly harassed a woman of another community was arrested and taken to the court on Friday. The police managed to control the situation after talks being held with representatives of both the communities. 

On being informed that large numbers of people belonging to two different communities were gathering at police post raising anti-police slogans and blaming one another, the Dehradun Police deployed additional forces at lakkhibagh area to maintain peace and order. Dehradun Kotwali CO Manoj Kumar Katliyal said the situation in the area was under control. The accused who had allegedly misbehaved with the woman has been sent to jail after being produced before the court. 

As a precautionary measure additional police force has been deployed at religious places in the city. The police have been directed to be vigilant on anti social elements and act against law violators, he added.
