It should be noted here that with the price of land increasing manifolds in and around Dehradun, the complaints related to false land registry under various police stations are increasing in the state capital.

large number of frauds and land mafia are believed to be involved in false land registration, earning quick buck from unsuspecting buyers of land.

Statistics reveal that one or two cases of land disputes are being reported in some police station or the other almost on a daily basis. In course of investigation it was revealed that land mafia generally sells the lands of other persons and tries its best to bring it in the court. later they pressurise the real land owner to resolve the case out of court by selling the same land at cheaper rate.

With an increase in the number of land dispute cases involving land mafia, the state Government had recently formed SIT at Garhwal Range level headed by IG/DIG Sanjay Kumar Gunjyal.

Recently, Gunjyal had sent to jail about half a dozen persons involved in selling land with false land documents. The case lodged by Mohammed is believed to have caused much anxiety among the land mafia in the State capital. Fearing stringent action on his complaint, those involved in dubious land deals may have abducted Mohammed, opined an observer.
