Dehradun police have arrested a person for making a fake call to Additional Secretary (health) and National Rural Health Mission (NHRM) project director Neeraj Khairwal as Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat’s Officer on Special duty (OSD) Sanjay Choudhary.
The accused had asked Khairwal about the status of the recruitment process involving the posts of pharmacists in the health department. He also allegedly tried to get some ‘secret’ information related to recruitment of some particular persons for the posts of pharmacists in the same department.
Dalanwala police station in-charge inspector Anil Kumar Joshi said that the accused who had called up the additional secretary Khairwal was identified as Suresh Angul, resident of Pithoragarh. He was arrested on Monday night.
He is an unemployed pharmacist and lives in rented accommodation in Raipur. However, the accused secured bail from the police station as he was booked under bailable offence.
Giving more details, Joshi said Angul had made a call to Khairwal late night on July 9. “He had asked Khairwal to appoint some pharmacists on contractual basis in the health department apart from organising four or five health camps each month in various parts of the State,” he added.
Khairwal became sure that the caller was not Sanjay Choudhary after he verified the number. Choudhary later registered a case under sections 418/419 of IPC against unidentified persons in Dalanwala police station.
In his written complaint, Choudhary stated that some unidentified persons are talking to IAS officers and some department officers, using his name. Police had kept accused’s mobile number on surveillance. The accused was finally arrested on Monday night.
