Police arrested a youth on Saturday for allegedly raping a 15-year old girl on Friday night. The accused was identified as Deepak, resident of Aaduwala, Vikasnagar.

A case under sections 363/376 of IPC and section 3/4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered against the accused in Vikasnagar police station, said Vikasnagar Circle officer SK Singh. He said that the victim’s parents registered a complaint in Vikasnagar police station, stating that their daughter, a student of Class X, had been raped while she was returning home after taking tuition at her uncle’s home on Friday evening.

The complaint said that a Deepak, the victim’s neighbour, had forced her to get on his bike and taken her to a nearby forest area where she was raped by the accused. The complaint further said she had returned home late, looking shattered.  She had later informed them what had happened to her.

Acting on the complaint, a case under appropriate sections of IPC was registered in Vikasnagar police station. Vikasnagar police station in-charge Sandeep Negi formed a team led by senior sub-inspector Arvind Kumar to hunt the accused. The accused was arrested from his home on Saturday. Police had also conducted medical of the survivor in Vikasnagar hospital.

The accused was sent to Suddhowala Jail after being presented in the court on Saturday evening.  Police sources said that the accused had also raped a minor girl from the locality in the past. But justice had remained elusive for the accused as her parents had not lodged any formal complaint with the police on the same.
