To ensure peaceful conduct of ensuing Panchayat elections police should make a detailed study of the sensitive and hyper-sensitive booths under their jurisdiction” said Amit Sinha, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Garhwal range while addressing a meeting of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSPs) and Superintendent of Police (SPs) here in Dehradun on Tuesday. Sinha asked them to make a detailed plan for these elections and make preparations in advance for staying and other arrangements of Central forces, home guards and police force from nearby districts.
The DIG said that many accidents occurred on the Char Dham Yatra route recently which caused losses of many lives. He asked them to initiate intensive checking drives on Yatra route and ensure that only the fit vehicles are on road, he added that the rash drivers, drunken driving and overloading should be booked and their driving licenses should be impounded. The accident prone areas should be physically examined by the senior officers and necessary changes should be made if need arises.
It has been noticed that the cases of serious nature and those related with Information Technology Acts are transferred to the Special Operation Group (SOG); strongly objecting to such practice DIG said that SHOs should investigate these cases locally.
