Make fool-proof security arrangements: DIG

Published on:

DIG Garhwal Pushpak Jyoti asked the force to make fool-proof security arrangements for the forthcoming budget session of the Assembly slated at Gairsain in Chamoli district in March and also for the Char Dham pilgrimage which would resume in April/May. He addressed a seminar attended by the     police personnel  and officers at  Gopeshwar on Thursday. DIG also heard out the problems the force has been facing and   assured of steps to address and resolve them.

After the seminar was over, Jyoti visited Bharadisain (Gairsain) where the budget session would be held from March 20. He was accompanied by the superintendent of police Chamoli district Tripti Bhatt. He inspected things from the perspective of security. The police officers present apprised him of the details of the arrangements being made regarding boarding, food and sanitation aside from security.  Jyoti  said that nothing should be left to chance as far as security of the session is concerned.

Earlier, while addressing the seminar, DIG exhorted the police personnel to be polite while dealing with the pilgrims on the Char Dham Yatra routes. “The police must be sensitive to the difficulties the pilgrims might face during the yatra. We expect that lakhs of pilgrims/tourists would throng Badrinath, HemKund Shahib and Valley of Flowers located in Chamoli district and every one of them must be taken full care of,” he said.

While dwelling on the security aspect, he said that the police must verify the identities of the pilgrims/tourists who would stay in hotels, dhabas and the like. “All who would come including those from Nepal and the hawkers must be verified for their identity. Besides, the traffic system should be spruced up a so that no congestion takes place during the season of the pilgrimage,” Jyoti said.

Among those  who attended the seminar were the Chamoli SP Tripti Bhat and  CO Karnprayag, Mithilesh Singh.
