We all are well aware that dengue is caused by a virus and there is no specific medicine or antibiotic to treat it in Allopathic form of medicine. The only treatment available is directed toward relief of the symptoms which is called symptomatic treatment.
In a major breakthrough, research and the method of treatment practiced by Haridwar- based doctor has been given a green signal by the State health department for moving a step further towards clinical trials. Soon it would be implemented in Ayurvedic College of the district.
Dr Vijay Verma of Haridwar has devised a combined critical care treatment protocol which includes 'Snehan' and 'Vasti' techniques of Ayurvedic Panchkarma. These have proved effective in as many as 70 cases of dengue which the medical practitioner has treated since 2013.
The doctor had been given a go- ahead by the State Directorate of health in 2013 and through a Government order dated October 15 2015, he had been asked to conduct clinical trials. A nine- member committee comprising four allopathic doctors from Himalayan Institute of Medical Science Jolly Grant and four Ayurvedic doctors had approved the mode of his treatment. In February this year, Verma had conducted a successful trial on critical dengue patients at Anesthesia department of IC Unit of Sir Sunder lal Bahuguna Hospital of Banaras Hindu University.
Explaining his methodology, Verma says, "Allopathy offers only symptomatic and supportive treatment in dengue cases. In the initial phase, there is high fever, body ache, vomiting, rashes and diarrhoea. Dengue leads to a drastic fall in the number of blood platelets which leads to haemorrhages and death. As the platelets count falls blood platelets are required to be infused. The mortality rate is 2% in dengue in modern protocol.
However, in combined critical care devised by us, we gently apply medicated oil treatment on the patient's entire body and also through the herbal nutritive per rectal application. Within 24 hours, symptoms of dengue fever subside and in 48 hours, the person starts recovering and platelets show an increase. There is no side effect or untoward effect encountered till yet and no person treated thus has suffered from the post- dengue syndrome as in modern protocol."
In all, 22 critical cases of dengue have been completely cured by this treatment, claims the doctor. The combined critical care of both Allopathy and Ayurveda can lessen the suffering and cure the patient at minimum cost and suffering, he further claims.
The vital parameters of a person like oxygen, blood pressure and electrolytes level are maintained as in Allopathy while the treatment is entirely Ayurvedic, he says.
