A majestic Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor’s parade was conducted at the prestigious Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Tuesday. The parade was conducted on the historic Chetwode Drill Square, wherein 565 Indian and 45 Foreign Gentlemen Cadets (GC) displayed enthusiasm, vigour and zeal in all the drill movements performed by them.

The spectacular parade was reviewed by Major General Mandip Singh (VSM). The officer has recently taken over as the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor of the IMA. In his address the Major Gen Singh complimented the Gentlemen Cadets of the Passing Out Course for a good parade. He mentioned that the efforts of the faculty and the hard work of the GCs were quite evident from the crisp and coordinated movements. The deputy Commandant said that he is confident that GC would further improve their standards till the final Passing Out Parade (POP) which is scheduled on June 11. He complimented the Gentlemen Cadets for the hard work put in and for having finally reached the threshold to a world filled with challenges and responsibilities. He said that the GCs have been taught repeatedly to ‘lead by example’ and the soldiers who would be under their command should look up to them with pride.

A large number of school children and local citizens witnesses the parade at the Drill Square.

The new Public Relation Officer of IMA, Major Dinesh Sharma said that the duty of the IMA to train the GCs ends herein after which they will step into their Units and Regiments, who will groom them further and make them responsible and competent leaders.  He said that an award ceremony would be organised on Wednesday in which outstanding Gentlemen Cadets (GC) who excelled in various categories in their pre-commissioning training at the Academy would be felicitated.
