The Nigam Karmchari Adhikari Mahasangh has opposed the State administration’s decision to provide the increased gratuity to Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) employees from May 30, 2019.
The Mahasangh demanded that as per the orders of Government of India under the 1972 Act, the gratuity should be provided from January 1, 2016.
Mahasangh’s president Dinesh Gusain said, “According to Gratuity Act 1972, as per the order of Indian Government the increased gratuity should be provided from January 1, 2016.
The State Government is modifying the already existing orders as per its convenience. We will register our protest in writing and will fight on for the rights of transport employees.”
It is pertinent to mention here that as per the orders signed by principal secretary Manisha Panwar on November 4, in accordance with the revised seventh pay commission according to which the gratuity has been increased from Rs10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, the transport employees are to be given increased gratuity from May 30, 2019.
