In order to conduct the ongoing civic poll process in free and fair manner, the district administration, Almora, claims to have appointed zonal and sector magistrates.
Dividing the entire district into different zones and sectors, the district administration, Almora, has appointed Dr. Ahmed Iqbal, Joint Magistrate, Ranikhet as zonal magistrate of nagar panchayat, Dwarahat, informed the officials concerned.
Similarly, S Kumar, Executive Engineer, PWD, has been appointed as the zonal magistrate of municipal council of Almora, said Akshyat Gupta, District Election Officer (DEO), Almora.
And J C Berri, Regional Tourism Officer and Dayalu Ram, District Horticulture Officer, have been appointed as sector magistrates of nagar panchayat, Almora, the officials concerned of the district election department Almora further said.
Similarly, Sanjay Sharma, Assistant Engineer, rural engineering service, has been appointed as reserve sector magistrate of the municipal council Almora, added the officials concerned.
In the meanwhile, KS Khati, Assistant Engineer, Uttarakhand peyjal sasthan, Ranikhet, has been appointed as sector magistrate of nagar panchayat Dwarahat, the District Election Officer (DEO) further said.
In this process, Chandra Singh Pangti, Inspector, Cooperative societies, Almora, has been appointed as Officer in charge of the election control room, Almora, the DEO added. At the same time in a bid to ensure better coordination among different agencies engaged in the election duties, the district administration, Almora, has also asked the officials concerned to be available round the clock.

With completion of nomination process and allotment of symbols among different candidates, now all eyes are on the April 28 when as per the state election department’s poll schedule , voting will be held for the local civic body elections.
