Tension raging in the aftermath of the alleged beating of the Mayor Manoj Garg in the hands of the angry followers of Satpal Maharaj, the Cabinet Minister Madan Kaushik who is also the State Government spokesperson went to the ashram of Maharaj near where the clash took place in a bid to resolve the matter on Friday. The State BJP brass is said to be deeply perturbed over internal bickering having come out into the open, denting into the image of the ruling party. The party insiders said that Kaushik has been entrusted with the responsibility of dousing the fire before it turns into a conflagration. However, both the parties involved in the matter having moved court, things would be resolved on the floor of the court.
Observers say that the Garg happens to be very close to Kaushik who had put his best foot forward to have him elected as the mayor.
Meanwhile, the condition of Garg turning critical on Thursday night, he was taken to CMI hospital in Dehradun on Friday. The mayor had complained of difficulty in breathing, something that led to his being shifted to the capital. Among those who visited the mayor were the district Congress leaders Ambrish Kumar and Manohar lal.
