The long wait for jobs by qualified candidates of the lecturer Teacher (lT) examinations seems to be ending as on the direction of the Governor the education department is planning to give appointments to these candidates soon.

On Wednesday the Governor of Uttarakhand K K Paul directed the department to ensure that vacant posts in schools located in remote areas are filled soon so that the studies are not hampered in these schools. Acting swiftly, the Director General (DG) of school education, D Senthil Pandian asked his senior officials that all pending process of appointments in the posts of teachers should be completed within a month.

The selected candidates of lT examination who were waiting to be appointed from last three months are now hopping that their appointment letters would soon reach to them.

One such candidate, lata Kala said that it is really painful to wait for such a long period for the appointment letter. She said that it is a pleasant surprise that the Governor is adopting a proactive approach.

To fulfill large number of vacant posts of lT in various Inter colleges and high schools of the state the Uttarakhand Board of Technical Education had released an advertisement in the month of February 2014. After much delay the examination was finally held on March 29, 2015.  In the meantime the department appointed more than 6000 candidates as guest teachers on a temporary basis.

However these guest teachers pressurised the State Government to extend their services. These teachers were assured by former Chief Minister Harish Rawat and education minister Mantri Prasad Naithani that there services would be extended which resulted in a deliberate attempt by the examination body to go slow on the lT examination and Government virtually sat over the result of the examination.

However on the intervention of the High Court the result was finally declared in January this year. In further twist ostensibly to protect the interests of Guest teachers the department only released only part of the result and selected 1300 candidates though the vacancies were more than 3000. Now not only these selected 1300 candidates are hopeful for appointment letters other aspirants of the examination are also hoping that the second list of the selected candidates would also released soon.
