lPG consumers told to give bank a/c

All the lPG connection holders have been asked to provide their bank account numbers and mobile numbers to their respective gas agencies.

This is to ensure that the users get cash subsidy on cooking gas which could be directly transferred under Direct Benefit Transfer for lPG (DBTl) scheme in their bank accounts after January 1, 2015, said Indian Oil Corporation  Dehradun Area Manager VK Sundriyal.

He said, “Consumers who are not cash transfer compliant (CTC) will get a three-month grace period during which they will receive the cylinders at subsidised rate up to the cap of nine cylinders. After the grace period is over, they will get an additional period of three months as parking period”.

He also said, “During the parking period, they will have to buy cylinders at market rate. If the consumers join the scheme within the parking period, the subsidy as per entitlement and consumption during parking period will be transferred to their bank accounts.”

Sundriyal said that the subsidy will be transferred only to those consumers who will provide bank account numbers to their gas agency after the grace period is over.

Those lPG connection holders who have not yet provided their bank account numbers to their respective gas agency should do the same without delay, he added.

He further said that as per the instruction received from the Centre, the cash subsidy on cooking gas will be transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank account from January next year.

Customers will be barred from availing the scheme if they fail to submit their bank account numbers within the grace period to their gas agency, he added.

According to him, all domestic lPG consumers will get an advance in their bank account as soon as they book the first subsidised cylinder before delivery.

As soon as the first subsidised cylinder is delivered to such consumers, the next subsidy will again get credited in their bank account, which can then be available for the purchase of the next subsidised cylinder at market rate.
