All the lPG connection holders have been asked to provide their bank accounts to their gas agency so that cash subsidy on cooking gas could be transferred in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries after January 1, 2015, said Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Dehradun area manager VK Sundriyal.
Following the direction of the Central Government, the cash subsidy on cooking gas will be transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts from January next year. "The subsidy on lPG cylinders would be provided directly to consumers in their Aadhaar-linked or Unique Identification Number (UID) bank accounts," he added.
All Aadhaar-linked domestic lPG consumers will get an advance in their bank accounts as soon as they book the first subsidised cylinder before delivery. As soon as the first subsidised cylinder is delivered to such consumers, the next subsidy will again get credited in their bank account, which can then be available for the purchase of the next subsidised cylinder at market rate, he added.
He further said that all lPG consumers who have not linked their Aadhaar number to lPG consumer number will have three month grace period from date of launch to do so. During this period they will continue to get the lPG cylinders at subsidised rate, as they are getting today, up to the cap of 12 cylinders.
After the end of the grace period, lPG cylinders will be sold to all domestic lPG consumers at market prices. However, the subsidy will be transferred to only those who have linked Aadhaar number to lPG consumer number, he said. Those lPG connection holders who have not provided their bank accounts to their gas agencies should do the same without delay, he added.
