Unscheduled load shedding and that too for long hours continued to hit normal life in city like Haldwani.

People of the region experienced a tough time even on Friday as power supply remained disrupted for nearly three hours affecting many parts of the Haldwnai city. Besides, rural areas and industry sector seem to be worst affected by the power cuts. Whereas power supply remain disrupted upto eight hours in rural and remote areas of the State, industry sector has to face the power cuts upto five hours daily.

Apart from low availability of power, local faults are reported to be main reasons behind poor power situation in the State. The major concerning factor is that despite rainy season there has been no improvement in power generation from the domestic sector with power generation from this sector remaining only around 10 MU for long.

According to the figures provided by the UPCl, with gross availability of power ie 32 Million Unit (mu) including about 10 MU from the indigenous sources, about 15 MU from the Central pool and rest from other sources, the demand for power in the State continues to remain around 35 MU.
