Mussoorie Assembly constituency MlA Ganesh Joshi led locals and his supporters in a protest demonstration at the office of the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) alleging delay in execution of approved construction and developmental works in the area. The protesters submitted a memorandum to the MDDA secretary raising their issues and demands.

Addressing the protest gathering, the Mussoorie MlA said that he had managed to get several development work proposals sanctioned by chief minister, urban development minister and chief secretary in the constituency area. However, the authority is not undertaking any action for completing the execution of these developmental works, he alleged. Joshi said, “I have repeatedly asked the departmental officials so far but they have not done the needful. The MDDA released tenders for 95 works but just a day before opening of the tenders, changes are made by removing 22 works with tenders being released for 75 works.”

The MlA submitted a 13-point memorandum to the MDDA secretary Prakash Chandra Dumka listing the various issues including no work being done on five developmental works approved by State Urban Development minister, construction of various roads including the stretch from Kalidas community hall to Dobhalwala, installation of 50 electricity poles in Rajpur, Chidowali and Kandoli areas,  construction of roads and drains in various localities including Salawala, Rajpur, Kishanpur, Vijay Colony, erection of a high-mast light at the Donali Chowk in Garhi cantt among other works.  The MlA told the MDDA secretary to start execution of the works and present a detailed report within a week on the status of all the works in question. Dumka assured Joshi that action would soon be taken on the issues raised in the MlA’s memorandum. The BJP Mahanagar head Umesh Agrawal and other party leaders were also among those who expressed their views at the protest gathering.
