With an aim to draw attention of the State Government towards their pending demands, several organisations rallied for Vidhan Sabha on the fourth day of the Budget Session on Monday. The police stopped the protesters outside police barricade at Rispana. Police personnel followed the agitators from the protest site till they reached Rispana barricade.

The members of Uttarakhand Gram Prahari Union assembled at their office on Raja Road and rallied up to Rispana police barricade. Association president, Ram lal informed that they have been agitating over the past so many years on their six-point charter of demands. But successive State Governments have failed to address them. The representatives of the association had met the Chief Minister and other Cabinet Ministers earlier and despite assurances, their demands are yet to be addressed, he added.

Their charter of demands include minimum wages as per Central Government’s guidelines and regularisation of jobs among others. Each village watchman should be given uniform and identity card. Meanwhile, the members of Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan Karamchari Sangh took out a rally up to the Vidhan Sabha while shouting slogans against the State Government. They were demanding regularisation of service.

Gajendra Kapil, a member of the association, said they had submitted memorandums to the CM but nothing happened. They threatened to intensify the stir if their demands are not met. Others present on the occasion included Ram Chandra Pandey, DR Saklani, Ashok Sharma, Nandlal Joshi, Bahadur Singh and Dhan Singh Negi.
