local leaders strive to get star campaigners

With the polling date approaching closer, the local leaders are spending sleepless nights to get approval for public meetings or rallies of star campaigners in Uttarakhand. Senior leaders of Communist Party of India (CPI), CPI (Marxist) and Samajwadi Party said that they are in touch with central leadership of their respective parties but their proposals are yet to be approved.

If these party leaders are to be believed, politicians like SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav; CPI(M) leaders Sitaram Yechury, Brinda Karat; CPI national secretary Amarjeet Kaur and others will soon address public rallies in Uttarakhand.

CPI(M) central committee member Vijay Rawat said that party star campaigners like Brinda Karat, Sitaram Yechury, Anand Mullah, Subhashini Ali and others are expected to reach Uttarakhand for public rallies soon. Party leader Tapan Sen had recently addressed rallies at places like ladpur, Dehradun and other places in Uttarakhand.  The public rallies of Brinda Karat and Sitaram Yechury will be held at Herbertpur, Raipur, Sahaspur, some places in Tehri and Uttarkashi, he added.

“We are following traditional methods of election campaign like door to door campaign, public meeting, people to people contact, distributing pamphlets and installing banners at important places to woo the voters. The party candidate Shiv Prasad Devli from Tehri lok Sabha seat is a known figure in Uttarakhand as he has been working for public causes for the last 35 years and has served on various positions from Gram Pradhan to district Panchayat president. He appealed the voters to exercise their franchise in the favour of Devli averring that he would remain in the constituency after winning the election.

SP State president Dr Satyanarayan Sachan said,“We have already sent a list of star campaigners like SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, actor turned politician Jaya Bachchan, senior SP leader Naresh Aggarwal and others to the party leadership which is yet to approve it. Moreover, party leaders and workers are conducting door to door campaign and other activities in the constituencies to motivate the voters in favour of our candidates. The party has opened its office in all the Assembly constituencies included in the Parliamentary constituencies from where our candidates are contesting.”

CPI leader Samar Bhandari said that Narendra Singh Negi is contesting election on CPI ticket from Garhwal lok Sabha seat and national leaders like Amarjeet Kaur, Sudhakar Reddy, Sameer Faizee and others will soon address public rallies in Uttarakhand.
