light rain/snow is likely to occur at scattered places in the higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand while the climate would remain dry in rest of the state on Saturday. Another western disturbance which is approaching now to the Himalayan region is likely to trigger a wet spell again on February 5, said the weather officials.

A Met officer said that the mercury in the plains is likely to dip by a few notches if it rains and snows in the mountainous areas of the state on Saturday. Mercury rising up slowly, the minimum temperature settled at 8.9 degree Celsius, two notches above the normal, in Dehradun on Friday. The mercury might dip a bit on Saturday if the hills experience the wet spell, the officer added.

The Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre director Bikram Singh said on Friday that a western disturbance likely to affect the climate of the western Himalayan region from February 5 onwards.  The wet spell is likely to continue on February 6.  As an impact, the high-altitude areas of the hills would experience rain/snow for the two days. However, there is little likelihood of the plains experiencing the rain/snow spell, he added.

While the highest maximum temperature of the state 25.8°C was recorded in Dehradun the lowest minimum temperature -0.1°C- was recorded at Matela in Almora district.  The sky would be partly overcast on February 4 and February 5, though there is little possibility of rain or snow on these two days.
