Gusty winds and spells of light rain in some parts of the state on Tuesday brought some relief from the scorching heat under which the people kept reeling under for several days. The rain which occurred is expected to mitigate the problem of forest fires raging across the state for some days.
Dehradun too experienced the same climate since the afternoon. Gusty winds with a considerable speed swept over the city during the evening. It rained too, though its volume was not much to rid the people of the heat they have been suffering from. However, it brought some relief as the maximum temperature which was hovering in 40 degree Celsius for the past few days dipped by a few notches following the rain.
The spell of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorm and hail is likely to continue across the state for the next few days, the Met officers said, adding that it might lash some parts of Dehradun, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Chamoli and Haridwar districts in Garhwal region and also some parts of the districts like Pithoragarh, Champawat, Almora, Nainital and Bageshwar in Kumaon region.
In Dehradun, the maximum temperature settled at 37.2 degree Celsius, two notches above normal, on Tuesday. It might be around 36 degree Celsius on Wednesday, the weather officers said. The sky would be clear to partly cloudy in the city on the day with the possibility of thunderstorm or rain lashing some parts of the district.
