lekhpal Sangh alleges harassment by SIT

Alleging that Special Investigation Team (SIT) is harassing the revenue officers in the name of probe, members of Uttarakhand lekhpal Sangh asked Dehradun DM Ravinath Raman to withdraw a case lodged in Raipur police station against the revenue officer Radhe Shyam Painuli who is a co-accused in a land forgery case.  DM assured them that he would form a team comprising ADM and SDM to look into the matter.

The Uttarakhand lekhpal Sangh members cited the case (FIR number 81/16) against revenue officer Painuli being lodged by SIT based on allegedly false documents.

Notably, SIT registered a case against 13 persons, including lekhpal Painuli, in Raipur police station while acting on complaint of a  forged registration of a land located at Tarla Nagal, Tehsil (Civil) Dehradun.

The union members stressed that Painuli had been implicated in the case at the behest of the SIT with no evidence confirming his complicity. “As per the land registry report, Madan lal and Bala Devi on December 8, 1998 had sold a piece of land to one Sangam Nath Yogi, native of Delhi. In the land registry records released by the official concerned, Sangam Nath was named.  Revenue officer Painuli was in no way involved. His honesty is above board. If the revenue officers are being tagged to forgery cases this way it would demoralize us all who are doing our duties honestly,” one of the members who met the DM said.

With the members insisting on the  removal of the name of Painuli from the FIR lodged in Raipur police station, DM Raman assured them  that an independent inquiry would be conducted jointly by ADM and SDM and till the time the probe is completed no action would be taken against him.
