In a sharp contrast to the laudatory certificate given to CPU by the Supreme Court of India - constituted road safety committee, local BJP and Congress leaders aside from some shopkeepers are up in arms against the unit, vociferously demanding its prompt dismantlement. They allege that CPU is milking money out of the vulnerable. Interestingly, after two incidents of CPU personnel allegedly roughing up relatives of senior BJP and Congress leaders, the activists of both joined hands and vented ire against CPU, saying that the unit has been harassing the common people to make them shell out money.
