lawyers continue strike for second day in Dehradun

Demanding action against Mussoorie SDM Swati Bhadauria for allegedly misbehaving with a senior advocate, the lawyers attached to Dehradun Bar Association continued their boycott of works on the second day in the court on Wednesday. However, to break the logjam, Dehradun district magistrate Ravinath Raman has called a meeting with the advocates on Wednesday evening, said DBA president Manmohan Kandwal. He said next course of action would be decided after reviewing the outcome of the meeting with the DM on Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, works related to court and revenue remained disturbed on the second consecutive day on Wednesday due to the stir with the people visiting the court returning disappointed. Dozens of advocates assembled at the court campus on Wednesday morning and shouted slogans against the administration.

Expressing anguish over senior advocate SP Tyagi being humiliated, the agitated advocates demanded immediate written apology from the SDM Bhadauria and action taken against her by the State Government.

Sources said that as Tyagi had approached the SDM court regarding the hearing of a matter SDM Bhadauria had allegedly abused him and had ordered the gunner to take him out of the court. However, other advocates present had intervened when the gunner was shoving him out, sources added. DBA secretary Anil Gandhi warned that the association would intensify its stir across the state unless action is taken against Mussoorie SDM.
