An initiative by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat  has made the last villages in Chamoli district bordering China  'Ghesh' and 'Himiini'  internet-connected. The CM talked with the students of Inter College located in the villages  via video conferencing from  the CM residence on Tuesday.

He dwelt on the advantages and disadvantages of the internet while interacting with the students.  He also informed    the students about the use of the internet to help the farmers in increasing their productivity.

Continuing his talk, he also asked the students about the problems they are facing during which a student told him about the low availability of the electricity in the village which makes it very difficult for them to complete homework. Replying to this, CM assured that in three months, electricity would reach the village. He also instantly gave instructions to the electricity department to ensure prompt electrification of the villages.

He further said that the schools would be electrified through  solar energy.  Multipurpose technologies like K-Yan are also being sent to both the schools so that it can help in conducting  video conferencing.

This facility would also facilitate the teachers based in far -away places to teach the  students of these remote villages, CM told the students.   This device also contains in-built teaching content by NCRT which can help the students  learn more. It can convert a wall into a projector which adds a benefit of converting an ordinary class into smart class, CM said.

The Government officials said that internet in these villages has also given a start to the common service centre, E-medicine and E- animal service which would go a long way in bettering the standard of living of the people inhabiting the remote villages.

They further said that that some people have also taken consultation with doctors and specialist using E-medical and E-animal services.

The common service centre is also allotted laptop and printer which will ease the work to access ID cards, ticket booking and the like.  Amit Sinha, director of   Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) and Ramesh Bhatt, the chief minister’s media advisor were also present during the video conferencing.
