The virtues of therapeutic lASER have arrived in Doon. The Director of luxmi Dental laser and Implant Centre Dr Nitish Kamboj claimed this while addressing media men here on Thursday.
Kamboj said that the laser healing therapy (photobiomodulation) is the application of laser light to the area of the body that has been injured or damaged. He claimed that in contrast to high power surgical laser which are designed to cut tissues, the therapeutic laser has beneficial photochemical and photo biological interactions that help in reducing pain, inflammations and increase blood circulation.
Explaining the process Kamboj said that the effects of this laser are not thermal but are photochemical; it is not a destructive procedure and can be compared to photosynthesis in plants. "This therapy is helpful in relieving Pain ,Swelling and Inflammation that sometimes develop after dental treatment in head and neck region, with this therapy we can take care of jaws pain, accidental injuries (like bruise tissue) which leads to edema and pain. With the help of laser we can promote healing of wounds, deeper tissues and nerves that leads to faster recovery," he claimed.
Kamboj said that this type of laser therapy is in juvenile stage in India and Dental Council of India in its sixth Conference has acknowledged the role of lasers in curing the habit of snoring. He said that the NASA space science laboratory and Thor an Association on medical education in USA are doing major works on the subject. He claimed that his centre is first of its kind in Northern India.
