Nainital district administration has not yet been able to rehabilitate people from Raheesh Hotel area where massive landslides occurred during the last monsoon season.
About two dozen families living in Raeesh Hotel area in lake city Nainital, had to be shifted to a safer place due to huge damage wreaked by landslides. Nainital district administration had also asked the officials concerned to allot houses which were readied under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) scheme at Durgapur to those affected by landslides.
Besides, the district administration Nainital had also asked the officials concerned to complete all the houses being constructed under the JNNURM scheme at Durgapur on time so that other affected families could also get their houses at safer places. But the rehabilitation process has not progressed much since then.
However, while visiting the aforesaid area on Tuesday, Deepak Rawat, district magistrate, Nainital, asked those families which have been allocated houses in Durgapur under the JNNURM scheme to shift there within three days.
In case, the families fail to take possession of the houses allotted to them at Durgapur within three days, their house allocation would be cancelled, asserted the DM. At the same time, he also asked the officials concerned to dismantle all the houses located around Raheesh Hotel after the families are rehabilitated. More so, the district administration, Nainital has also asked the government employees who are living in Raheesh Hotel area to shift elsewhere in a month.
