The pilgrims visiting Badrinath this year will be provided Chaulai ladoo made by the women’s Self Help Group of Selag village in Joshimath development block as prasad, it has been decided by the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC).
The women here are busy these days working in groups to make the ladoo from local produce. This is the first such attempt being made by the local women which will boost their livelihood while also facilitating proper price for their local produce which will strengthen the local economy.
Motivated by the opportunity to make and supply the Chaulai ladoo, the women are working hard these days. After finishing their various domestic chores, the women come together in groups to prepare the ladoo. Till now they have prepared thousands of ladoo which will be sent to the Badrinath - Kedarnath Temple Committee.
One of the village women, Kamla Devi, said that this is the first offer made to them under the Government's national rural livelihood mission. This opportunity is also expected to facilitate proper price for the locally farmed Chaulai, she added. The women involved in the preparation of the Chaulai ladoo for prasad are enthusiastically working on this nowadays.
Other village women like Santoshi Devi, Sarita Devi and Asha Devi agreed that this initiative will prove to be better in the times to come.
