lack of vacancies leads to transfer of teachers

Unable to find sufficient number of vacancies in the schools located in the inaccessible areas, the education department has decided to initiate a process of transfers of teachers from these schools to those located in the accessible areas.

The Secretary of School education, D Senthil Pandian took a meeting of the top officers of the department on Thursday and reviewed the process of new appointment of teachers and departmental promotion.  In the meeting he asked the officers to ensure that the posting of new and promoted teachers should be compulsorily done in the schools located in the inaccessible areas.

Pandian said that the teachers who are posted in the remote and inaccessible schools and are eligible for transfers should be transferred to the accessible schools. He also asked the officers to ensure that the teachers posted in E and F categories of inaccessible schools (these schools are located in most remote and mountainous locations) should be transferred to category D schools. The schools of D category though belong to inaccessible schools are better than E and F ones.

It is worth mentioning here that the department is in final stage of giving appointments to 2700 posts of lTs and promotion of about 1400 lecturers in the department. The order of Pandian clearly underlies that posts are not vacant in the inaccessible areas and the department is rightly planning to transfer teachers from there to make room for new appointees.

In the meeting it was also decided that process of appointing teachers in the model schools should start. The teachers wanted to work in these schools should apply at the office of DEO. Preference would be given to teachers proficient in English language for posting in these schools.
