Despite being home to 104 pharma manufacturing companies, the State of Uttarkhand does not have even a single laboratory to test the medicines produced here.
The absence of laboratory is hindering the growth of the industry which has a tremendous potential.
Stating the poor state of affairs at the conference, the head of Industries association of Uttarakhand Pankaj Gupta said that in absence of any lab the pharma manufacturers of State send their samples to Delhi and Chandigarh for testing which weighs heavy on their pockets.
He suggested that the laboratory in Rudrapur be upgraded and one lab each in Garhwal and Kumaon be set up in the State.
