lab/office assistants to continue agitation

Published on:

The laboratory/Office assistants employed under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) have decided to continue with their agitation inspite of Chief Minister Harish Rawat's assurance to reinstate them. On Saturday, the CM had asked the education department officers to enroll the contractual workers of RMSA in the multi-purpose projects of department. The president of the association GS Bisht said the contractual workers respect the sagaciousness of CM Rawat and thank him for his sensitivity but the agitation would continue till the officials come out with a clear cut proposal.

He said that a delegation of the association would meet the Director General (DG) of School Education D Senthil Pandian on Monday and decide their future course of action after that. Bisht said that two members of the association Jaipal and Manoj Rana are continuing on their indefinite hunger strike which entered day 14 on Sunday. The members of the association are sitting on a dharna at the protest site located at Old Raipur Bus stand for last twenty days.

The education department had recently removed 1,256 outsource employees as the Central Government had stopped funding their salaries. The association is demanding that the State Government should bear the entire cost of their contractual appointment now.  The members of the association allege that the arbitrary decision of removal by the State Government has put the livelihood of hundreds of people in jeopardy. The members of the association have burned the effigies of BJP MPs, carried out secretariat march and hunger strike to give impetus to their demand of reinstatement in the education department.
