The plight of all those patients who visit Government hospitals is likely to increase manifold as agitated lab technicians will boycott the medical and health services from Thursday onwards.
The agitated members lamented that the despite giving written assurance from the State Government, the authority is yet to take effective measures to fulfill the year long pending demands of the association.
The association office bearers have expressed their concern that despite the fact that they were given assurance by the top bureaucrats, their year long pending demands are still pending. The agitators have also threatened to intensify their agitation if their demands were not met in the given time frame.
Hundreds of Government lab technicians under the banner of Uttarakhand Medical lab Technician Association will boycott the medical and health services in the Government hospitals including community health centres, primary health centres, health centres in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand on Thursday in support of their year long pending demands of association.
If the agitated lab technicians will start their agitation from tomorrow onwards, then the work of pathological investigations are likely to hamper and all those admitted and OPD (Out Patients Department) patients would be among the major suffers. Additionally, medical examination of suspected and confirmed dengue patients will be hampered very badly and it will jeopardize the lives of seriously ill patients.
After expressing his antipathy over the callous approach of the State Government, Manoj Kumar Mishra, State general secretary said that memorandum highlighting demands was submitted many times to top bureaucrats but no step was taken by the State Government to fulfill their year-long pending demands.
Among those pending demands were increasing the grade pay of lab technicians, fulfilling vacant posts of lab technicians, promotion of lab technicians upto senior lab technicians etc.
