The recently released class X results of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) show that when it comes to performance, the Government owned Kendriya Vidhyalayas (KV) outsmart the much hyped private schools of the city. The pass percentage of KVs of region in class X examinations is 99.51 per cent which is better than the pass percentage of private schools of the city which is at 99.1 per.
There are 51 KVs in the Uttarakhand region and students from 45 schools out of them took part in the class X examination. 3878 students of these schools participated in the class X examination of CBSE this year and out them 3854 students passed the exams. The result was 100 per cent in 35 schools of the Uttarakhand region of KVS. The results clearly reflect that the famed private schools of the city are lagging behind the KVs. Interestingly many KVs are located in remote areas of the state and a very good result shows the hard work the teachers have put on the students.
Expressing happiness at the performance of the students the Deputy Director KVS Uttarakhand region, SS Chauhan told The Pioneer that the results show the hard work and efforts the teachers. He said that the classroom teaching at KVS is different from other schools and the teachers are more qualified as they are selected from a tough all India examination. Chauhan said that the KVS regularly organise training sessions for its teachers where they are updated on the trends and most advanced teaching aids.
He said that KVS provide smart classes and computer aided teaching aids to the students. When asked about what innovative methods the KVS employed to improve the results Chauhan said that KVS provides special teaching material free of cost to the students of Classes X and XII, in this material a complete blue print of examination is given to the students. He also claimed that a practice of remedial teaching is also adopted in the Kendriya Vidhyalayas. “Under remedial teaching special classes are held in the schools on the demand of the students, these classes are organised after the normal school hours by the specialist teachers,” he said.
The Principal of KV ONGC, DS Negi told The Pioneer that 14 students of his school have scored a perfect 10 CGPA; he said that he is proud of the performance of the students of his school. The parents of KVs are also happy at the performance of their wards. Anita Rawat mother a class X student of KV said that the quality of education in the school is very high and most importantly the cost of education is very low as compared to the private schools.
