Gramin Vikas Samiti president Kunwar Singh Rana would contest the upcoming Assembly election as an independent candidate from the prestigious Cantt Assembly constituency. Rana declared this while addressing the media persons at Press Club on Friday.
Rana said that his association has been struggling to increase the pension amount for the divyang, widow and elderly. He said he had earlier written to President and Prime Minster regarding the hike of the pension amount to Rs 3000 per month for the persons entitled to it. “After the Central government took cognizance of my letters the state government was forced to increase the amount from Rs 800 to Rs 1000,” he claimed, adding that he would fight for this issue which both BJP and Congress are steering clear of.
