The daily report issued from the State Emergency Operation Centre on Friday evening contained a glaring error. Among the various meteorological data presented in the weather forecast, the daily report states that “heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places especially in districts of Kumaon region during next 48 hours starting from July 10 morning”.
Stating this date on the eighth day of the month of July may be considered a minor human error or spelling mistake but observers point out that in matters pertaining to disaster management, such minor errors in information dissemination might exacerbate the possibility of serious consequences of not stating the correct date and time.
