Kshatriya Chetna Manch (KCM) has announced on Saturday that it would not allow the release of Sanjay leela Bansali’s controversial film “Padmavati” anywhere in Uttarakhand.
The outfit’s president Mohan Singh Chauhan said that the film has distorted history while denigrating the character of Rani Padmavati and glorifying the invader Allauddin Khilji.
“We would not tolerate the film maker casting aspersion on our ancestors and the Hindu culture,” he said, adding that a memorandum would be served soon to the chief minister on the matter soon, demanding its intervention in stopping the release of the film.
General secretary of the outfit Ravi Singh Negi said that KCM would allow the film to be screened only after the film maker ensures that the controversial parts are deleted.
“The revised film must be screened before the functionaries of the outfit as well as the historians. We would allow its public screening only after we are satisfied that it contains no distortion of the history we are proud of,” he said.
Another senior functionary of the outfit said that the state government would be held responsible if any law and order problem erupts in the State in case the film is allowed to be released in its present form.
