The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal- Airy faction has demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged scam in 2013 disaster relief works. The party will hold Chetavani Yatra across the State on June 14 and also gherao the residence of the Chief Minister in Dehradun as part of its Uttarakhand Bachao- Uttarakhand Basao campaign.
Addressing the media here, the UKD (Airy) head Puspesh Tripathi alleged that about 15 years after creation of Uttarakhand, the Congress and BJP, in stead of facilitating development, have consistently encouraged corruption. There is need to conduct a CBI probe into the various scams that have taken place in Uttarakhand.
He said, “The anomalies in spending of relief funds after the 2013 disaster have exposed the State Government’s insensitivity towards the disaster victims. This alleged scam should also be investigated by the CBI and the government needs to take immediate steps in this case. No action has been taken yet against any of those involved in the various scams that have been orchestrated in the State. The BJP and Congress have both orchestrated scams during their term in office.”
He further informed that as part of its Uttarakhand Bachao-Uttarakhand Basao drive, the party will hold Chetavani Yatra in all the districts on June 14. The State wide demonstrations will be launched with the gherao of the chief minister’s residence in Dehradun. The Chetavani Yatra will conclude on June 17 at Gairsain with homage to disaster victims. The series of protests against corruption in the State will be carried on by the party members, he added. Party patron BD Raturi and other party leaders were also present on the occasion.
