Fire erupted in a firecracker shop near the bus stand in Kotdwar in Pauri district on Tuesday night. In the incident, a car was burnt. However, no casualty was reported. The driver of fire tender Surendra Chandra was suspended after being found neglecting duty, said Pauri SP Ajay Joshi while talking to The Pioneer on Wednesday.
A team has been formed to conduct inquiry into the incident, he added. Sources said that fireman Chandra who was supposed to keep fire tender at the police station, near bus station, had gone home for dinner after 11 pm on Tuesday and he reached the fire incident site around half an hour later.
