Angered over the death of a pregnant woman in a private hospital based in Vikasnagar, the family members of the deceased protested on Tuesday. The crowd of protestors further swelled after some locals joined. They demanded action against the doctor concerned whose negligence allegedly led to the woman’s death.
Police sources said that Sapna, wife of Rakesh, resident of Vikasnagar, was admitted at the private hospital on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday in a critical condition. Following surgery, the woman gave birth to a dead born baby. Her condition deteriorating further, she finally died.
Family members of the deceased alleged that the mother and the baby had died solely to the medical negligence on the part of the doctor concerned. later, police arrived and sent the body for postmortem. Police officers said that they were awaiting the autopsy report. However, based on the complaint lodged by the relatives of the deceased, a case under section 304a of IPC was registered against the doctor concerned in the Vikasnagar police station, informed inspector Sandeep Negi.
