Kidnapping: Ramdev's brother still at large

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev's brother Rambharat, who along with his security guards had allegedly kidnapped and physically tortured Nitin Tyagi, has been evading arrest.

Police said that their investigation is on and if he continues to evade arrest then police will start proceedings to attach his property. Meanwhile, the police have recorded the statement of Nitin Tyagi under Section 161.

During The Pioneer investigation, it has been revealed that the police have been scrutinising all the documents and preparing a watertight case against Rambharat. Sensing its seriousness, the police are acting cautiously. Uttarakhand Police DGP BS Sidhu is personally supervising the case because the yoga guru has tried to politicise the matter by naming Congress high command in it. Sources further said that in such case where punishment is less than seven years, arrest is not required so police can file a case before court.

Haridwar SSP Rajiv Swarup said that police have obtained a non-bailable warrant against Rambharat and various locations are being raided in search of him. "He is still at large, but we hope to arrest him soon," he said. Rambharat was booked at Kankhal police station of Haridwar district recently under sections 365 (kidnapping or abducting), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) and 323.

Uttarakhand Police had lodged an FIR against Ramdev's brother Rambharat and his security guard for allegedly kidnapping his former employee Nitin Tyagi from Haridwar on October 18. Following the complaint of Tyagi's grandfather, who lodged a missing person complaint as his grandson went missing on October 18, police found Nitin at the entrance of Patanjali Yogpeeth Ashram, Haridwar on October 21.

later Patanjali had filed a counter complaint against Nitin Tyagi and alleged that he was working in Patanjali Yogpeeth as a watchman two years ago. Then a truck loaded with goods went missing with its driver and helper. Although the truck along with goods was recovered from Haridwar but Nitin was missing since then. Although Patanjali authorities had not lodged a formal complaint about the missing truck loaded with goods. Now, it has raised question mark that why Patanjali administration had failed to lodge a complaint about the missing truck thenIJ
