Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Maj Gen (Retd) BC Khanduri expressed concern over the selling of kerosene @ Rs 55 per litre in the disaster-hit areas.
He said that locals are starving after the natural calamity that struck couple of days back and selling of kerosene at the disaster-hit areas at this cost shows the insensitive attitude of the State Government towards the residents of Uttarakhand.
He raised the question that despite this fact the Congress rules both in Union and State, then why the kerosene quota was reduced from 26,000 kilo litre to 9,000 kilo litre. Khanduri said that if the State Government is unable to distribute free-of-cost kerosene then the Government should at least sell it at subsidy rate in the disaster-hit areas. He claimed that the he will take up this matter to Chief Minister and bureaucrats in the coming days.
