Taking note of the media report dated April 26, claiming that former CM Maj Gen Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri was among some Members of Parliament who had flouted the Odd-Even Rule on 25 April, the Garhwal MP rubbished the report, dubbing it as baseless.
In his explanation, Gen Khanduri said, “On that day, I had taken the Ferry Service being run by the lok Sabha Secretariat for the convenience of Members of Parliament to come to the Parliament House Complex, since my own personal vehicle carries an Even Number (UK 07 BF 5500), For using the Ferry Service, I had paid the necessary charges (Coupons issued by the lok Sabha Secretariat are enclosed as proof)”. Gen Khanduri further said that reporting such matters without verifying the facts is not just irresponsible action but it also sullies the image of public representatives. In this connection, he had asked the media persons on April 26 to investigate the matter.
Since the content of the news items relate to a matter involving the prestige of MPs, the matter has been taken up and the newspapers concerned have been asked to issue suitable clarifications at the earliest.
