leading the BJP-launched Pardafaash rally in Raipur Assembly constituency on Friday, Garhwal MP and former Chief Minister Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri tore hard into the Harish Rawat Government, saying that the rally’s success was ringing the bell for the departure of the Government.
The significant fact of the rally is that it had drawn huge crowd that was lacking in the rallies held earlier since it was launched by the State BJP chief Ajay Bhatt on August 17. “We are enthused by the large turnout of the people who came to listen to Gen Khanduri,” said a BJP insider. The development has fuelled speculation again over the former CM being projected as the CM face for the saffron camp to take on the redoubtable Harish Rawat.
Gen Khanduri stressed that the rally being organised to highlight the State Government’s all-round failure aside from exposing corruption that has eaten its way deep into the State, resulting in scams tumbling out one after another, the people’s spontaneous participation is note worthy.
“The State Government has not just failed to address the people’s mouthing grievances but it is also patronising corruption. The CM himself is leading the show in association with his close aides. The time has thus come to show the Government the door, for it is clear that as long as it is entrenched in power positive development would continue to elude the State,” the former CM said.
Former MlA from Raipur Umesh Sharma Kau, who had switched to BJP from Congress recently, also addressed the rally, saying that the State Government is running the State in a dictatorial manner. “Due to this, the rate of the State’s development is slowing down,” he added.
