The Annual Day of Keshava Deva Malaviya Institute of Petroleum Exploration (KDMIPE), ONGC, Dehradun was celebrated at the AMN Ghosh Auditorium Dehradun on Monday. On completion of 55 years of its glorious existence in service of the nation’s unrelenting quest for hydrocarbons, as part of its Annual Day celebrations, KDMIPE organised the research and development meet of ONGC Institutes.
As KDMIPE is the cradle of home-grown R&D capabilities of ONGC, the event this year is specially designed to focus and steer current and planned activities by bringing together the identified the aspects on the canvas of R&D meet of ONGC Institutes.
On this occasion a lecture on ‘Probing Deep Earth : A Perspective’ by Dr Shailesh Nayak. In his address Dr.Nayak stressed that hydrocarbon exploration in the present times is fraught with multiple and multi-faceted challenges owing to innate complexities leading to a continuous demand for more and more cost effective and potent technological solutions and novel ideas. Presenting a lucid inside into the various dynamic processes within and across crust, mantle and core including their interaction and linkages with land surface processes, he underlined the need to prove interior of the Indian plate for the benefit of mankind through integrated studies.
He therefore called for value maximization through rejuvenated focus on objective R&D across the value chain of exploration and production of hydrocarbons.
A one and half day mega R&D meet of the 12 ONGC Institutes was organised by KDMIPE to coincide with celebrations.
The sessions witnessed the R&D capabilities of ONGC Institutes followed by theme based discussions by Domain Experts from various Institutes.
The meet was designed to extract the most from the deliberation on identified R&D aspects by ONGC Institutes about the latest advancements and ideas in the energy sector from exploration through production and engineering technology and health and safety related practices.
Recollecting the eventful journey of KDMIPE, Dr DN Singh, Head of Institute, KDMIPE highlighted a few of the significant contributions of the Institute in chartering ONGC’s exploration history. He appealed to KDMIPEians to leave no stone unturned for maintaining the cutting edge of organization’s future energy forays.
