Route 2 Roots an ‘'Exchange for Change’ programme was launched at Kasiga School on 7th February, 2014. Classes V-VII participated in the letter writing activity to their counterparts in Pakistan.
The programme initiated by a Delhi NGO, supported by the British High Commission, helps young people understand and interact with their peers from across the border. The first activity was successfully concluded with students sharing information about themselves, their school, hobbies and interests. They also wrote about monuments and festivals in India and many drew beautiful drawings to highlight a few. They also described the variety of street food available in India and asked numerous questions about Pakistan.
The children now eagerly await a reply to their letters and are gearing up for the second stage where they will be exchanging picture postcards with their new found friends. This programme is a wonderful way of encouraging the future generations to bridge the gap between these two nations with such a vast and ancient history.
