Kailash Mansarovar yatra from today

The Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage through the traditional Uttarakhand route is all set to commence from Friday. To boost the spirit of the pilgrimage, Chief Minister Harish Rawat would receive the pilgrimage in Almora on June 13.

In all, 1,080 pilgrims in 18 batches (60 pilgrims in each batch) will visit Kailash Mansarovar under this pilgrimage which will continue till September.

However, the ‘yatra’ will be a bit costlier for the devotees this year.

Under the revised travel tariffs, devotees will have to pay Rs3,000 per head more this year. While the amount was Rs32,000 till last year it would be Rs35,000 this year, said Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) officials. KMVN is looking after the hospitality aspect of the pilgrimage.

Apart from paying Rs35,000 as travel charges in the Indian territory, devotees would also have to pay $ 901 per head in the Tibetan/Chinese territory, the officials added.

Meanwhile, all necessary preparations have been put in place to ensure safe and comfortable Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Uttarakhand this year too, KMVN officials claimed.
