The former Director General of Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) and present chairman of non-political Jan Vikas Manch (JVM), VK Bahuguna said the newly formed front will undertake efforts for mobilising and educating the people of Uttarakhand on Government schemes especially on livelihood.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Bahuguna said a JVM delegation had submitted memorandums to Governor KK Paul and Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Monday, requesting them to make 'voluntary disclosure' under the RTI Act 2005 of the various schemes of the Government at the Gram Sabha level as a survey conducted by the Manch had ascertained that many people at the grass root level are unaware of Government schemes.
Bahuguna said the JVM would work as a decentralised public forum at the village level to mobilise local youth to strengthen character building and dedication towards work in the management of the resources and ensuring social harmony.
The main focus of the Manch will be on better management of natural resources for livelihood, conservation of forests and preservation of environment to prepare people for climate resilient livelihood with transparency as a focus on implementation of the projects.
He further said the body will focus on aspects for overcoming the shortcomings in implementation of various Government schemes and policies and the reasons for the apathy towards meeting the aspirations of the citizens.
"We decided to form the non-political JVM forum and to provide a platform for the people to raise their voice for transparent implementation of government schemes and to raise issues of public concern," said Bahuguna.
