Senior BJP leader Ravinder Jugaran has accused the State Government of violations of the provisions of the Uttarakhand lokayukt Act 2014 in the ongoing process of the appointment of lokayukt in the State. On Saturday, a committee headed by Chief Minister Harish Rawat completed all the formalities connected with appointment of lokayukt and its members in the State.

In a letter directed to Governor KK Paul, the BJP leader said that the under Section 4 sub-section 5 of the lokayukt Act, it is mandatory that the Government should constitute a set of guidelines for the search committee for the appointment of lokayukt.

However, the search committee recommended the names for the post without the Government formulating its guidelines. He said that the State Government should have put the issue before the State Assembly which was not done in this case. Jugaran appealed the Governor to intervene in the matter and cancel the entire process of the appointment on the very important position.
